:: Pics and More ::

Well, Daddy comes home tomorrow! Yee haw! We have definitely missed him. Thank goodness Mimi is only a phone call away....total lifesaver! Tomorrow I am going to brave the outlet mall on my own....I think. It's midnight right now and that's my plan, we'll see what my motivation level is in the morning! :)

This week has been pretty uneventful...just me still trying to figure out how this 2 kid thing works! :) HA. It's called, "FLY BY THE SEAT OF YOUR PANTS". Drawing up a strategy to load the car (i.e. get it running to cool down, oh wait Trey can't get in yet b/c he can 'pop' the seat belt and I would have a car in my kitchen, and the list goes on...)...Discovering that I already need another shower after I load the double stroller. The basic message is: 2 is definitely more than 1! Emery is doing really well...her nickname is Miss Piggy. The girl can EAT. They tell you not to do more than 2 ounces at a time, which I don't, but within an hour sometimes she wants more. I might worry that she was eating so much if she was spitting up, but she's not. Just a growin' girl. There are some pics below, which I know is what you all want anyways! :) Just kiddin'. Hope everyone is having an awesome week! I'm off to sleep...I think.

:: We're Survivin'! ::

Day one is almost down! Joe comes back in 4 days! My mom stayed with Trey, Emery, and I last night....whew! However, tonight is all me. I'm up for the challenge!

Update on my grandmother, Nana. She is doing much better the last couple of days. The dr. has taken her off of some medicine that was really making her grumpy. As far as her being non-responsive...apparently, she was being stubborn and had a reason to not respond to the dr.'s...she didn't like them! What can I say, she still has her personality. They have moved her from the hospital in Lake Jackson to a facility in Sugarland that has the means to care for the infections she has and to move her around more. The nursing home just wasn't cutting it. All in all, things are looking up these past few days.

Joe is in Dallas today for his grandma's funeral, and will fly to San Antonio in the morning to relieve some stress at coaching school. Everybody seems to be holding up very well in Dallas, so that is a blessing.

Well, both kiddos are sleepin'....so you know what that means in motherhood terms...I NEED TO SLEEP! :) Joe took my good camera on his excursion, but I'm going to dust the old one off and get it working in the next day or so....check back for pics.

Settling In...

Well, we've been home now for 3 days. Adjusting to having two instead of one is my biggest challenge. I mean really, you have to schedule your own potty/shower/snack time. It hasn't been too bad yet. Trey likes to help and he is growing up more and more each day. The first night we had Emery home, Trey wasn't too keen on the idea of Emery being able to stay in our room while he was ushered off to his big boy bed. After numerous escapes from his room, and tearing at my heart strings by crying, "I wanna sleep with mommy." We let him fall asleep with us before he got placed back in his bed. Yes, Joe and I crack sometime and give in! :) Joe is slowly easing into football season this week. It will be in full swing this Sunday when they head off to coaching school. Don't let the words 'Coaching School' fool you....they are staying at a lake house, and they might make it to the convention center once in the 3 or 4 days that they are there. I will attemt to hold down the fort while he is gone...it will hopefully be in one piece when he gets back.

On a sadder note this week...we just got a call that Joe's grandmother 'B-Bill' passed away this morning of a heart attack. Everyone is holding up as well as can be expected. She was a great lady and it just saddens me that she didn't get to meet her newest great-granddaughter. She would have adored her. Also, my grandmother 'Nana' is in the hospital and is non-responsive and looks like she won't be around much longer. I am struggling with the fact that she hasn't met Emery yet either (not to mention Trey loves his Nana), but I know God will do what needs to be done....and these 2 awesome ladies will keep a watchful eye over our family.

That's all for now....I'm off to take a shower, while it is still peaceful around here.

Here is Miss Emery's first movie. To view it just click on the title of the post. Thanks Daddy! Apparently she is a popular subject. She already has over 30 views. She is a rock star.

:: Emery Rae Owens ::

Okay, go ahead and scroll to the bottom of this post...that's where the pics are! (I know you really don't care what I have to say! ha ha) I'm not posting all 500 pics yet, so these will have to do for now. By the way, you won't find any of me until Joe hacks into here and posts them! :)Emery made her presence known to the world Friday evening (7/18/08) at 7:39 p.m. She weighed in at 6 lbs. 16 oz. I won't go into all of the details, but we finally got checked into the hospital Friday night at 10 p.m.....yeah, not the 5 p.m. that they had told us. I got the Cervidil at midnight that night and had to be on that for 12 hours. So at around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, I got the Pitocin. By 2:30 had an epidural and was at 3 cm. Yeah, the epidural officially kicked my butt and I'm going to leave it at that. It had worn off by around 7, when I needed to push...In case you didn't know, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. are the shift changes at Methodist Willowbrook. Don't decide to push during a shift change! Joe was impressed to see me bossing people around, because I don't generally do that. Those are about all of the details you need to know, because when they finally did get in there and let me push, it took 3 contractions and Emery was here! She is perfectly healthy and I am feeling fine. She does have a little bit of a rash or something on her bottom and we're going to see the pediatrician tomorrow, but I'm not too worried about it. She is eating, sleeping, peeing and pooping.....that means she's healthy, right? :) Enjoy the pics, and I'm sure I will be posting many more later. Oh yeah, Trey is completely fasicinated by Miss Emery and giggles at every little thing she does. It is a really neat thing to see.

Trey being an awesome big brother!

Daddy and Emery...yes, he's already wrapped around her pinky.

Our first photo shoot in the room...

Waiting patiently to get outta there!

Comical

So......I'm drying my hair (you know getting all cleaned up before I go into labor! Make up is a must! ha!)...and I hear Joe yelling at me from the bed, "You're phone is ringing!" Needless to say, I didn't get to it in time. Let me set the time frame for you...it's 3:45 p.m. Yes, this is today...the day I am to report to the hospital at 5 p.m. Of course, I look at my phone and the number is not one that is already in my phone. I automatically know its the hospital. I call it back and get the switchboard operator, who has no idea what I'm doing calling him. Then, I hear the little beep for a voicemail. Fantastic! I get the new number and call it back. Here's the conversation: "Hi Kristy, this is Margaret with labor & delivery...um, you're being put on a slight hold tonight for your Cervidil" Me: "Sooooo, what are you saying?" Margaret: "We just can't get you in a room right now, but you will get in sometime tonight." Me:"I will be in a room tonight, right? (with slight firmness in my voice!) Margaret: "Yes, you will get in tonight, I just can't guarantee you a time right now...if you haven't heard from us by 8 p.m. call us back." Me: "Thanks. Bye"

There you have it. The latest update of Emery's arrival, everyone keeps trying to put her on hold! :) You should have seen the look on Joe's face when I told him we had been put on hold, yet again. Luckily, this time they guaranteed me tonight! I think he's tempted to just drop me off at the nearest ER. Anyway, we're off to go eat my last meal for a little while. Hopefully you won't hear from us too soon, that would mean we're back home way too soon! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

:: Crazy Kid ::

So, the last couple of afternoons I have broken down and let Trey take his nap with me in our bed. You know, trying to eat up those last few moments of him being an only child. Well, this afternoon I really needed him to take a nap in his big boy bed so that I could get some last minute things done. Me, being the nosey person that I am, always goes in to check on him while he is sleeping. First check, the bed...no kid. Second check, the bus (read earlier posts)...no kid. Now, I'm starting to wonder...here is where I found him.

Yes, he is asleep...Yes, that is on the floor,
snuggled up to the wall and this tool bench!

Woo Hoo!

Well....as I was sitting in the room taking my non-stress test today (by the way, what kind of pregnancy test should be called 'non-stress'?) and the dr. came into the testing room, which was a first. I had already done my ultrasound, and everything looked great. Anyway, she came in and sat down and said, "How does tomorrow evening sound?" I had already told myself I would probably have to make it another week, so I was kind of excited! She said that my placenta was starting to break down and the baby was measuring 7 lbs. 14 oz. and it was time. No arguments from me! Soooo, if all goes well we should have a baby by Friday!!! Oh by the way, I'm already at 1 cm...I know that's not a lot, but at least its somethin! Prayers would be appreciated...i.e. that I get the epidural, etc. Just kidding. We just want a safe delivery and healthy baby! Stay tuned for more updates!

:: Sleepin' ::

LOL! That's all I can say. Trey's had the sniffles but no fever and felt completely fine (i.e. runnin' around like a mad man). He got to go swimming today, yeah I know probably not the best parental move, but he had a good time nonetheless. Joe and I have been watching a movie, and Trey had been asleep for probably a good hour and I was noticing the he was coughing a lot. So, when Joe got up from his chair I asked him to go check on Trey and put him up on his pillow to help the cough. The next thing I heard was Joe busting out laughing in Trey's dark room. He immediately comes out of Trey's room and goes to get the camera. Allow me to explain, Trey has this pop-up bus in his room that he likes to play and hide in.....I think you can probably see where I'm going with this. Only the bus wasn't so "popped-up", it looked like it had been hit by a hurricane and all you can see is Trey's little head on the floor hanging out of the door. See pics below.

Hooks Airport...Joe's First Post!

This is a video/slideshow that I made of our trip to Hooks Airport in Tomball. I highly recommend it if you are looking for some cheap entertainment and your kids like airplanes. A side note...Trey had been a very well behaved little boy last week(4th of July, Hooks Airport, Ruckus room, etc.) We told him he could pick out a toy from Target. We went up and down each of the toy aisles. He saw some toys he liked, but none he wanted to take home. We thought maybe he was just being an indecisive 2-year-old. In fact, he would rather have a book. A BOOK! He picked out a CARS book that has several different little buttons that make noise when you push them, a steering wheel, and a horn. He loves it. If you happen to visit, he will probably help you read it. He is really quite the character. Anyways, enjoy the movie. Hint: pause the music (on the right) before you start it.

Airport Scrapbook Page...

Too much time, I know...

:: Airplanes and Ducks! ::

So Hooks Airport is pretty much the coolest place on earth if you are a 2 1/2 year old little boy! Let's start by getting out of the car...the ducks mob you expecting that you have their next meal. Luckily, Mimi was ahead of the game and brought some bread with her. From there you head thru the lobby and find all of the fun planes and helicopters. There was a nice gentleman that let Trey sit in the cockpit and even put the headphones on. I think he is Trey's new hero, if not he's mine because that totally made Trey's day! Here's the pics from this morning...Enjoy!

Oh Happy Day!

Look At That!
Daddy Time! WoW!

Yea, Yea...I know

I have way too much time on my hands. Hence the new background and header. Don't get used to it though, because I'm assuming in the next two weeks, that time is going to fly right out the window. Stay tuned for pics this evening....Trey got to go to the airport today and feed the ducks. Yesterday he went to the Ruckus Room to go jumping (awesome on Toddler Tuesdays...$2 unlimited time). He has had an eventful last couple of days!

IIIIIII'm Baaaaaaaaack!

So, is there such a thing as being too healthy to have a baby? :) I got rejected by the hospital this morning. Here is how the last 24 hours have gone. Last night, Joe retreated to the guest bedroom because I couldn't sleep and had the TV on and he wanted to read. Plus, the snoring of a 36 wk. pregnant woman can be pretty nasty! :) Anyway, I woke up around 12:30 a.m. when my mind would not shut off. It continued to run wild, so I moved myself out to the recliner to watch some TV with my fabulous body pillow (sidebar: not much on the tube after 1 a.m). 3:30 rolled around and I finally fell back asleep (still in the recliner). I think I watched the 5 a.m. newscast, but I'm not 100% positive. The next thing I remember was Trey coming around the corner at 7:30. Thank goodness Joe was not far behind him and I got to go back to bed and catch another hour or so of sleep. I think I was just psyching myself out because I THOUGHT it was my last night as a mother of 1. Anyway, around 10 a.m. I got a call from the doctor. She explained to me that unless something was terribly wrong at the appointment this afternoon, the hospital wouldn't take me at 36 weeks. I would have to have severe preeclampsia before they would take me. (FYI...the dr. is new to this hospital, so she didn't think they would put the brakes on) Talk about taking the wind out of your sails. Now, don't get me wrong. I want to wait until at least 37 weeks to have Emery, but I was told that I was having this baby tonight or tomorrow. Anywho, we kind of bummed around the house until it was time to head to the Dr. Fast forward to 3:30 this afternoon. Ultrasound...Emery scores 8 out of 8. NST (Non-stress Test)....Emery scores 10 out of 10. My BP....125/74 :). Protein.....NONE! So, basically today I was the healthiest I've been the whole time! WOO HOO! I bought myself another week. Joe on the otherhand was SOOO ready for Emery to be here, and he was a little perturbed at the doctor (A) getting our hopes up (B) FREAKING me out about preeclampsia/toxemia, when IF I have it is a very mild case at the moment. Next week, I go to the doctor on Wednesday morning for all of the same tests, and I think we are going to take the 24 hour urine test (can you sense the excitement about that last one?)....That is the latest news. Check back for more fun pics this week, as I will be getting my camera out.

Woo Woo's!

This morning Trey got to go over to Mimi's house to see the Woo Woo's come by. Those of you unfamiliar with 2 year old language, woo woo's = fire trucks! It was a big hit. The last time he saw the Woo Woo's at Mimi's house was last Christmas. So, on the way over to Mimi's he kept asking if Santa would be on the Woo Woo....not quite, Trey. Anyway, he loved it. They had a little parade around the neighborhood, so daddy let Trey sit in the front seat and "drive". Don't worry, we passed the police man that was in charge of the parade, and Trey was hanging out the driver's side window, waving and saying "Hi!! We go see the Woo Woo's!" I figured if the cop was okay with it, we should be too! :) P.S. WE WERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, CPS doesn't need any reports. Plus, they'll have to wait on me, I'm supposed to have a busy day on Monday. :) Hope everybody enjoys the 4th today!

Monday Night It Is...

We had our 35 week check up yesterday. My blood pressure was up again, 147/88 (yes, I get nervous thinking every visit now, we will have to go in). I'm pretty sure if they would have checked it again while I was sitting there and after the ultrasound, it would have gone down. Oh well. The ultrasound went really well, she is measuring 6 lbs. 4 oz...so she is still growing. Actually measuring ahead of schedule. She also passed the Non-stress test with flying colors. The Dr. said she was an 8 out of 8, at whatever they look at. However, the Dr. said she doesn't see any point in me trying to do this any longer than I have to. It would be safer for all parties involved if we go ahead and induce Monday night. Tuesday she will be 36 weeks, and the Dr. feels sure that her lungs and everything will be ready. We will have yet ANOTHER Dr.'s appointment Monday afternoon at 3:30, where they will do all of the tests one last time. (We'll be there a while, b/c the Dr. is triple-booked Monday afternoon...nice) From there, we will check into the hospital Monday evening and start the pitocin. So, hopefully all goes well...Emery will arrive sometime Tuesday. I mean, Monday night would be really nice, but I'm being practical on the length of labor!! I hear it goes quicker the second time around....but I also hear that pitocin is not very pleasant! :) That epidural will be put to good use. Anyway, this is our last weekend as a family of 3! Friday morning Joe is going to take Trey to my mom's house to see the "woo woo's" at the 4th of July parade. I'll post some pics of that. I hope everyone has an awesome 4th of July! Until next time...

Boys and Their Toys

Joe took Trey to the Caterpillar HQ today to see all of the big tractors. Something about boys and big tractors! Joe said he LOVED it...I think you can tell from the pics. This was partially a reward, because Trey went potty on the toilet 3 times yesterday! Woo Hoo!

An Unsupervised 2 Year Old and...

a bottle of powder equals this...

(luckily this is a "play" phone)

*Sidebar: Joe had already scolded Trey earlier this afternoon for getting into his lotion and smearing it all over his chest of drawers and hair, etc....Daddy informed him not to touch the lotion. He said nothing about the powder......Needless to say, Trey didn't touch the lotion.
