*Trey-nado Turns 3!*

Trey is officially 3! He was sooo cute today. In the last couple of weeks, Joe and I have been amazed at how much he has matured. I know people say that the 3's are rough, but we've had a good go at it so far. Some of my favorite things about Trey? Hmm...he slept thru the night from one week on (not kidding.), he cares so much about how you feel, he is ridiculously smart, he can make me so mad and then in 2 minutes he has me laughing hysterically, he loves to give hugs and kisses, he knows just when to say "I love you mommy.", he does not meet a stranger, he's an AWESOME big brother! I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us with Trey...it's definitely not going to be boring!

Now, on to the party! I had a first for this party...I didn't do the grocery store cake! I HIGHLY recommend Kris at Patty Cakes if you live any wear near Northwest Houston/Tomball, etc...Trey LOVED his cake. So much so, that he wanted to stick his fingers in it! Enjoy the pics!

The Cake!
Mommy, I want a 'pupcake' too!

Icing...yummy.

Happy Boy.
I'm this many!
Pinch me...is this real?
Mimi and Emery
Daddy helping Trey play his new
Bob the Builder game...
Mimi helping too...
Still pinching himself! Crazy kid.

Corn Dip and Party Sandwiches

Just thought I would share a few of the recipes I used today! The corn dip is a party staple around our circle of friends. The sandwiches were something new, and came highly recommended by my mom. They were definitely a hit, and I am excited that there were 2 left for me to take to lunch tomorrow! Stay tuned, the party post is coming next...I'm trying to get it in tonight so I can get Not Me Monday in tomorrow!

Okay, Corn Dip first! Here are the ingredients:

  • 2 cans fiesta style corn
  • 2 cups shredded fiesta blend cheese
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 small can jalapenos OR green chiles (depending on how spicy you want it!)
  • 2 cups of mayo

Mix it all up together:
Put it in an 8x8 dish and
bake at 350 degrees for about 1/2 an hour.
Serve with tortilla chips. DELICIOUS.

.................................................................................................................

On to the party sandwiches! I wasn't ambitious enough to take pics of them, but here's the recipe.

  • 1 12-count package Hawaiian rolls
  • 6 slices ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese (Kraft Deli Fresh package)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worchestershire sauce (I used more...)
  • 1/2 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dried minched onion
Cut rolls in half. Cut ham & cheese into 4ths. Layer 2 slices ham & 2 slices cheese alternately on rolls. Place in 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Combine butter, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, mustard, and onion in a small bowl. Pour over sandwiches. Cover with foil and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 350. Back covered for 10 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes.

    * Time Flies*

    Wow, how time flies. Trey will be turning 3 on Sunday. We've told him that when he's 3, he can't wear diapers any more. We'll see how that one goes over. The little turkey KNOWS exactly what it is he has to do, it's just really an inconvenience to him. Here's a story that illustrates that. Yesterday at the babysitter, Lovie (the cat) kept going in and out of her litter box. Trey (being overly observant) noticed and said, "Wow Iggie, Lovie's bein' a good kitty and going potty in her potty! You need to take her to get a milk shake." If you can't put two and two together, then we have told Trey if he'll tell us he needs to go, then he can go to Steak n' Shake to get a milk shake. After Trey kept telling them to get the cat a milk shake, Grammy and Iggie were asking Trey if he needed to go (as they do every day)...Trey's response? "Not today." Okay then Trey, how about today? :) That $20 pack of diapers really puts a damper on my grocery store budget...that's a whole other meal! :) However, we STILL haven't had to buy A diaper for Emery...yep she's almost 6 months old. (That is thanks to 2 diaper showers before she arrived!) Anyway, enough rambling. Here are some pics I took of Trey yesterday and of course I had to slip a couple of Emery in there this morning. Enjoy!

    Is anyone over there?
    Cheeseball
    What next?
    He really does slow down...not very often though!
    Let's go to Grammy's!
    Those eyes.

    Let me know if you join in on the fun! I LOVE going thru old photos. Next week I am going to find some more pictures to scan. Man, how did we survive before digital?

    * Another Reason... *

    Here's another reason that I love my job. My students are re-working movie posters, to where they are the main characters. They turn out soooo good, and the kids LOVE them. I hang them up outside of my room and it creates a traffic jam. Here were a couple of posters that I let the kids see as examples. Look closely!

    :: Not Me Monday - Rd. 5 ::

    It's baaaaack! MckMama's Not Me's are great this week, go check them out. You go one week without it, and you start forgetting some of the things that are going to be blog-worthy...but I'll try!

    • I would never bring home close to 900 papers, and not touch one of them for two weeks. That would just be foolish.
    • Trey did not almost OD on chocolate at our friends house after Christmas. He was speedy in his maneuvers thru the crowd and managed to swipe probably half the box of chocolates.
    • Yesterday, I did not yell at a sophomore basketball referee because he would not call the 3 second violation on a kid who had set up camp in the lane. Not me, that would be immature. Surely, I was not yelling this as I was pushing my double stroller back and forth, trying to keep Emery quiet. Trey wasn't yelling from his seat, "Mommy, don't talk back." Not my child. And the referee, most certainly did not yell at me that it was "Proactive referee-ing" Don't ya know? Ridiculous.
    • I would never blog-stalk Mckmama to make sure Stellan was okay. Nope.
    • I am not kicking myself right now, for not keeping track of my Not Me's for the last 2 weeks. Surely my brain would not go to mush after having 2 kids. How does she do it? Seriously.
    • I did not laugh so hard that I cried, and snorted when I read this post. A little tacky, maybe...but I needed that laugh. Joe and I both did, and it was fantastic.

    These may be a little lacking this week, but just give me one week back with my students and my mind will be fresh! Hope everyone has a great week! Not a Not Me...I DO NOT WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL IN THE MORNING. Just thought you should know! However, the positive side to that is...I have a job that I love...I will just miss my time with my family, that's all.

    27. He likes to plan the date nights and take control. I like that.
    28. He loves to take Trey to do boy things. So sweet.

    I had to throw this pic in here! See, he did have hair once! :) Love ya Joe!
