:: Trick or Treat ::

Well, I have one strong-willed 2 year old. (That looks and talks like he is 5...) Trey has decided that he doesn't need (or want for that matter) to wear a costume this year. This was the conversation in the car:

Me: "Trey, do you want to be a fireman?"
Trey: "No Ma'am"
Me: "Do you want to be a police man?"
Trey: "Nope" (notice the manners fading)
Me: "Trey, if you want to get candy when go Trick or Treating you have to wear a costume...What will you be?"
Trey: "I wear a Trey costume"

Nice.

However, he is a character, so maybe that will work.

*Sorry, it has been an uneventful week, not much goin' on in the Owens' household! Just staying busy with 2 more games left in the district. All goes well....Playoffs! Hope everyone has a good Halloween, and stay tuned to see if we made it out the door to go trick or treating!

:: Random Picture Post ::

Ok, so today (for whatever reason) I was going thru my pictures on my 60 gig portable hard drive...yes, I said 60 gig! :) The pics brought back so many memories, I thought I would share some.

Me and My dad...maybe Emery will look like me???
This is my dad's first appearance on the blog...I have a lot more pics, so maybe I'll share some more later. We miss him, 14 years later. Yes, it's been 14 years.

The Fam...WAY back in the day!

Okay, now big jump in the time line! lol.

The Good Ole Days...Go #78! Axe 'Em Jacks.

Our Honeymoon...a week before the wedding.
Funny story.

The Owens Clan - All together! (Trey was 2 weeks old)
Story - This was at Uncle Jerry's funeral. 2 weeks after Trey was born. Fast forward to Emery's arrival and we lost B-Bill (Joe's grandmother) a week and a half later. If we ever get pregnant again (NOT PLANNING ON IT), just sayin'...watch out. We so wish B-Bill would have gotten to meet Emery...

My first published picture...and my only. Don't ask...2 miles took 2 hours. But, if you're ever near Colorado Springs trying to cut over to Pueblo, The Gold Belt Tour is BEAUTIFUL! Oh, how I miss you...and No! it wasn't my fault.
This happened Joe's first Father's Day...
Our first Christmas in Prestonwood, we miss that too!
The Prestonwood Forest Night of Lights is a must-see. I grew up there and looked forward to this every year!So innocent...

* Do People...*

Do people really steal parking spots? Call me naive, but I really didn't think people were that mean. Well, today it happened. I really am trying to stay positive (as mentioned a few posts ago...), but I had to share this. And the positive part? That not one cuss word left my mouth! My horn honking was just automatic, it was spewing the cuss words for me. :) So, back to the story. I really don't know what it is with me and parking lots lately. A month or so ago, a guy (yes, guys can be bad drivers too!), went the wrong way down a ONE way drive and hit my mirror...no damage, just words exchanged. Once again, I didn't utter one cuss word...he said enough for both of us, even though he was SO wrong. Okay, really I'll get back to today's story. So, I'm waiting...patiently, I might add...with my blinker on, for a 3rd row spot. NO ONE else is there waiting, just me. Well, as the guy is starting to pull out, I notice this white Lexus creeping toward me. In the back of my mind, I think to myself...she wouldn't dare. Yea, she dared, and she did. SHE WHIPPED RIGHT INTO THE PARKING SPOT!!! I had started pulling into the spot when she gunned it and turned in. I know you're thinking, she didn't...YES SHE DID. To make it worse, she had a big flaming Obama sticker on the back. I haven't voiced my political opinions here, but my views and her views are not the same and we'll leave it at that. This poor little lady pushing her buggy out by my car witnessed this whole debacle, just looked in my window and shook her head in pity for me. Yea, I sat there and WAITED for her to come out of her car. I was proud of myself...she was very NASTY and could only utter, "What are you looking at?"...My response you might ask? "I think you are probably the rudest person I have ever laid eyes on"...Her response? "I'm glad" and then she just sauntered into the store like she was so proud of herself. I was shaking I was sooooooooooo mad. I still am mad, I think at the fact that people really are that mean. I am no saint by any means, I struggle with every day sins like everybody else....this just caught me way off guard. Just a blatant disregard for any body else, how do you do that? Okay, I'll wrap it up now....Anybody out here in good ole Cypress, TX...be on the lookout for the white lexus with a big Obama sticker on the window and a longhorn magnet on the trunk....she'll hijack your parking spot! :)

Hope everyone is having a good week. We're gonna be busy this week, my mom and I are going to have a garage sale Saturday mornin...I'm actually excited to clean out some more of the house! My mom needs to get rid of a washer/dryer and I am cleaning out clothes and such. I'll keep ya posted how that goes!

:: Happy Birthday Gaines! ::

Write it down...3 posts in one day! It's definitely Monday, because I forgot to mention the birthday boy in my previous post. Cousin Gaines turned 4 this weekend and we all celebrated his birthday at the Arboretum. He got some really cool toys! We had a good time hangin' out with everyone. Here are some more pics...

:: Dallas Trip ::

These are some of the pics from our trip to Dallas this weekend. It took us 5 hours to get up there after school on Friday, due to a necessary stop at Sam's in Fairfield, and Emery's starvation! She did much better on the way home...Emery and Trey were both great in the car and we made it home in about 4 hours. We had a good time at the Arboretum and of course had fun with Grandma and Papa...as witnessed in the video in the previous posting! Enjoy the pics!

You can tell he really listens...

:: AFV, here we come! ::

So, this is Trey's new favorite game...and please note that is a soft, bouncy ball and no one was injured in the making of this video! lol. I could not stop laughing, and neither could Trey! He did this over and over again. I really am going to send this to America's Funniest Home Video (Hence the AFV Title Post). The first fall is the funniest, the rest of the movie is just to prove that he wanted to keep going! I guess boys will be boys!

The movie is grainy because it is from my mom's digital camera. Enjoy!

P.S. You might want to pause the player on the right hand side, so you can hear that he is actually laughing! :)

:: Fall Fun ::

Can I just say that I love the Fall? It is definitely in full swing. I didn't post much this past week, because not much happened. Joe's team lost their football game on Friday night, that always makes for a looooong weekend. I am not sure what time Joe got home Friday night (I mean morning) after running all of the film (I'd venture to guess some time after 1 a.m), and then he had to be at school by 7 a.m....didn't get home from that until about 3:30 p.m. and then we left to go scout yet another game at 6 p.m. AND if that is not enough, the coaches went back in at 1 p.m. today and I don't expect him anytime before 5 or 6...Oh the life of a FB coach, I wouldn't trade it for the world though! We did sneak in some drive way time Saturday night with some friends which was nice.

Uncle Cody came in town this weekend. Trey was super excited. We ventured out to the Cy-Fest and Cy-Fair Fire Festival Saturday morning. I'll let the pictures do the talking. It was fun, but we didn't stay too long. Saturday night, Mimi and Cody were gracious enough to take Trey to the Magnolia Opry to see Uncle Cody sing. Trey LOVED it...and then Trey was lucky enough to have a slumber party with Mimi.....THANK YOU MIMI!!!

This week should be pretty uneventful as I prepare for my first road trip with Emery and Trey. Once again, Mimi is coming to the rescue and riding with us. We are making our annual trip to the Dallas Arboretum for their Pumpkin Patch. If you've never been, it is beautiful. We are super stoked because Miss Sheila is coming and using us as guinea pigs for her photography biz!!! Sweet.

Thursday night we will be making our annual appearance at the St. John Turkey Supper. If you live in the Cypress area it is soooo YUMMY! (I think tickets usually cost around $10) I am going to have to sacrifice the JBF (Just Between Friends) Sale this year. JBF is like a massive garagle sale with strictly kids/maternity stuff. It is fantastic, especially if you are a bargain shopper like me. We are leaving for Dallas Friday after school, and there is just not enough time in the day!! I will just have to wait until the Spring. Well, I will leave you with some pics from the Fire Fest...Miss Emery slept thru the whole thing, so she is absent from all of the pics.

P.S. The first pic is of Trey after he hijacked my mascara from my make up bag. Nice.

Mommy's mascara...

I think Trey is in awe...a real fire man!

Have a great week!!!

:: Positivity ::

First off, after going to church this morning...I have to start this post off like this: "Hi, my name is Kristy and I am a neg-a-holic". Okay, let me explain. Our church (Community of Faith) is doing a marriage series (Upgrade Your Marriage) and today was about staying positive. And like Dr. Phil says, "You can't change what you don't aknowledge". Basically the message was getting a positive foundation for your marriage. Our pastor and his wife (Mark & Laura=awesome!) gave us several steps to get there. This is my first step. I can be WAY negative...there I said it. Hence the term 'neg-a-holic'. Trey can be doing one of the cutest things in the world, and I'm sittin' on the sidelines thinking about what a MESS he is making. So ridiculous, but I do.

Some of the points that really stuck out to me today were: (1) I am responsible for my own attitude...so true! I just let my thoughts snow ball and before you know it my day is horrible, only because I think it is. This quote rocked: 'Trouble is inevitable, Misery is OPTIONAL.' (2) Every attitude begins with a thought. "For as he thinks within himself, so he is" Proverbs 23:7....This one really hits home. I think way too much. Even if it isn't negative thinking, nonetheless I'm thinking and not just enjoying the moments with my friends and family. Last but not least (3) My ATTITUDE affects my ACTIONS....ding, ding, ding, ding, ding: SO TRUE. We were given a new action tool to try this week, I'm kind of excited to try it...we have a little note card and every time we start to think negative thoughts (i.e. when is football season over?), then I put a check mark down on my paper. My poor note card. We were also challenged to memorize Phillipians 2:13 this week. "For it is God who is at work within you (me), giving you (me) the desire and the power to do what pleases Him."

God does some AWESOME things. Last week Joe and I decided to sleep in and not go to church. It would have been very easy to do the same thing this morning, seeing as how Joe didn't get home before 1 a.m. Sunday morning from his game...and had to be back at work by noon. But, we pulled our boot straps up, got the kids dressed, and made it on time!!! But, God wanted us there this morning. Why? Because I had already been thinking about this week and getting negative. Here's our schedule this week: Monday night-Bible study/small group (so excited, but using 2 babysitters this week already, so we have to pass on this one and go next time)...Tuesday night-Joe's Open House...Wednesday night-bachelorette night/shower for Mandy (babysitter....score!)...Thursday night-Sub varsity FB night...Friday night-Varsity FB game (babysitter...double score!)...Saturday-Cy Fest, Fire Fest (fire trucks and more), scouting with Joe that night.

I'm out of breath just typing that schedule! JUST KIDDING, b/c I think that qualifies as a negative thought. There are so many negative things I could think about this week. OR, I could think "Wow, we are so blessed with family and friends to share our lives with and we have one of the most rewarding jobs in the universe". This is what I'm going to be working on, so if you catch me bein' negative...STOP ME! :)

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Don't Listen To Me!

Okay, so if you listened to me....let me go ahead and apologize. Cy-Fest is next weekend! It was just one of those things, that I must have heard wrong and I had convinced myself it was this weekend. SORRY!!! I had the kids loaded in the car, ready to go, when one of my friends called and said, "Um, Kristy that's next weekend!"...SHOOT! So, if you wasted your gas and drove over there....I AM SORRY. Or in my students language..."My Bad!"
