Slackin' on the Job!
Well, here we go again...weeks before a new post. I think I was secretly hoping that more than 5 people would request to read. That's okay, all that matters is I remember to put things down for us to remember...we're already blinking and years are passing by.
Trey and Emery continue to make us fall out laughing at least once a day. They're so similar, yet SO different at the same time. Let's take a look at their diets and you'll see what I mean. Emery, would be a vegetarian if it weren't for her undying love for cheeseburgers. Just the other evening for dinner, Joe and I grilled steaks. Knowing they both weren't huge steak fans, I made them some chicken nuggets, but we also had corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. Emery however, requested the pineapple and strawberries from the fridge to accompany her already full plate. To top it off, she batted her eyes and begged daddy for some bites of his steak and spring mix salad. Trey, you ask? Nuggets, mashed potatoes, and corn...done. Here's how far Emery goes with her love of veggies. We were at Schlotzky's one evening last week, and she and Trey each had a ham and cheese sandwich. She walks around the table to Joe's tray and starts scooping up his shredded lettuce and shoveling it in her mouth. Totally cleaned his tray of ALL lettuce, plain lettuce. I don't know who she belongs to. Trey was practically gagging watching her scoop that up.
Okay, moving on. I'm sure y'all would love to see some pics. Prepare yourself for an iPhone dump...it's the best I can do. These go back to Mother's Day weekend at the beach, so be warned...there's a lot!

No More Excuses!
Alright y'all...my sweet little ones are not so little any more and my blogging has gotten worse by the day. I'm going to be so wrapped up in every day life that I'm going to forget way TOO much. Therefore, after being motivated by a sweet friend, I am hopping back on the saddle. There will, however, be a change. I want to use this blog as a memory book for Trey and Emery as they get older and it has become apparent, that not every body in the world needs to read about our lives. So, this Friday {5/3} The Owens Crew blog will be moved over to private. In order to keep reading, shoot me an e-mail and if we don't know each other IRL then let me know who you are please: owensoriginals {at} yahoo {dot} com. < don't type the at {put an @} and the dot {put a . }, I just didn't want it to be clickable for spam.
Okay, now let's get on with business. The last time I blogged, we were having a tough start to the new year with some heavy hearts for our friends. Our hearts still ache for several of our friends going thru tough times, but all we can do is be there for them and lift them up in prayer daily.
I've been trying to slow down and really value our time with family and friends. We are winding down the school year, so that is becoming doable! 25 days, y'all....25! I can' wait for days in the pool, and sno cones. Today may be the day for the first sno cone of the season...before the cold front hits tomorrow.
I'll leave you with a massive iPhone unload...

the real tickets, and were not there to capitalize on said value...

HE is there...
What a month. Do you ever have those weeks or months where it feels like you keep getting punched in the gut? It's been that kind of month for us. Not in our immediate family, but in our circle of friends this month has brought about a ridiculous amount of bad news.
For starters, we lost a great man in our community. If you like Owens' Originals Photography on Facebook, you might remember this family. David passed away suddenly a little over a week ago. It hit me hard...not necessarily because I was close to David {we weren't}...but I am close to his sweet, sweet wife. At 38, he leaves behind a wife and 3 precious kids. It hits too close to home for me, because I was that kid. From one day to the next, at the age of 14, I was left fatherless...with no warning. The community is surrounding this awesome family with love and support, but it just sucks...plain sucks. I feel like I'm not doing nearly enough, but something we are doing is this...
Following that news, another family was hit with some horrible news. Emily and I went to high school together, and just this fall we met up for a photo shoot. Her son, Sam {ridiculously cute and spunky}, has just been diagnosed with Duchenne MD. Punched in the gut with that news. He and Emery are the same age. I can.not even begin to imagine the stress, worry, grief that comes with a childhood disease. There is no cure for Duchenne at this time. You can however go HERE, and voice your support of more funding for Duchenne. Prayers for the family would be greatly appreciated.

Sending lots of love and prayers your way, Sam!
It seems like any problems Joe and I come across, seem so insignificant now. We walked in the back door one day last week, to two full rows of tile in our breakfast nook, popped completely up {like a tent, y'all}...Joe and I looked at each other and just laughed. If all we have to deal with is a downstairs with ripped up tile, then we're doing pretty good I think. This is the breakfast nook now, and my kitchen now looks like this too. Joe is on a mission to get all of the tile up before Spring Break, so we can lay our own wood floors over Spring Break. Bring it on!
With everything going on the last couple of weeks, I was so thankful to be driving yesterday when I happened upon this...
HE always reminds us that HE is there...even when life hands us a bunch of lemons.
